We know from research that it takes about 100 hours to learn a level in any language. It depends on your commitment, motivation, self study, ability, and attendance. Some people have a faster pace of learning than others, yet our state of the art learning will equip you with resources and tools to ensure fast learning.

General English courses use New English File and the accompanying workbook. Students are expected to buy a copy that suits their level.

No, we encourage our teachers to be as creative as possible and to use other materials when they feel that it will improve your educational experience. Don’t be surprised if you have a lesson where you don’t open your course book at all.

Yes, there will be two tests, one halfway through the course to check your progress and one at the end of the course. You’ll be tested on your grammar, listening, speaking and writing skills. You’ll need to achieve at least 60% overall to go to the next level.

Practice makes perfect so yes, definitely! Homework may be set from the course book, the workbook, an activity from a worksheet or a private research project.

Anything and everything but expect dictations, backs to the board, board races, grammar races, bingo, telling stories from pictures, card games, board games, word jumbles, jigsaw readings, mingles, error correction games, auctions, cooking shows, creating menus and designing cities among other things. Learning English is fun, not a chore!

Not at all. Bell Amman has a wonderful learning resource centre with a fully equipped computer lab. Students are encouraged to use the books and computers in the learning resource centre as often as possible outside of class times and your teacher may take you into the learning resource centre to do some research or work on a group project during class.

Although your teacher may stand in front of the class and explain a grammar point when it’s really required, here at Bell Amman we believe in guided discovery. Students are encouraged to notice how grammar is used by listening to and producing the language.

Even if the focus is not on accuracy during the activity, your teacher will help you to notice and correct your own mistakes after the activity has been completed. Here at Bell Amman we encourage a lifelong learning approach that is student rather than teacher centred.

Students will be encouraged to help each other notice and correct mistakes. The teacher may do this through some games, dictations or reading each other’s work and checking for accuracy. If you still don’t understand how the grammar rule works after you’ve noticed the mistake, your teacher will be happy to explain it to you.

If you feel you are in the wrong level, talk to your teacher as soon as possible at the start of term.

If you miss more than 2 classes you will not be able to take the final exam and receive a certificate but you will be attend the classes.

Talk to the customer service staff and they’ll see what they can arrange.

We actively encourage our students to give feedback as often as they like because we want our courses to reflect your needs.

Please write to us online at feedback@bellamman.edu.jo or leave a note for us in the Learning Resource Centre. We also want you to feel free to speak to your teacher about any concerns you might have.
